Description
Sorgente Beach – Portoferraio
Sorgente, just like its “big sister” Sansone, is one of the most beautiful on the Island of Elba, and reminds us of those far away, tropical beaches you’ve probably only seen in postcards.
A paradise for nature lovers, and even if it takes about 10 minutes to walk to it, the breathtaking beauty of the area will make it more than worth it.
The beach consists of white, felsites pebbles made smooth by the sea. Although it isn’t very big – about 70 metres long – it sits between steep, white cliffs that go down as far as the crystal clear water; on days when the scirocco wind is blowing, the many different hues of blue and green are even more beautiful. If you are a snorkelling fan, there are many different species of fish to be found here, and this proves just how clean and unpolluted the water is.
You will see a small rock stack on the right, very popular among teenagers for diving from, that separates the beach from Sansone, another breathtaking beach similar to Sorgente, but even more beautiful.
There is a campsite behind the beach where you will find a bar and a restaurant.
Take the road from Portoferraio to Enfola, and about 3,5 km farther along you will see the sign on your right; park your car at the side of the road or on the parking with payment, then walk for about another 350 metres, going through a tiny village.
