Description
Beach of Scaglieri – Portoferraio
Beautiful, golden sands beach in a small inlet, considered Biodola’s “little sister”, from which it is separated by a small rock stack that you can easily walk across by means of a cement walkway.
The Beach of Scaglieri looks onto the gulf of Biodola, and is in the middle of the northern side of the Island of Elba: It is very sheltered, and since it faces westwards it gets the sun till very late in the afternoon. It sets between Elba and Capraia, and the varying, breathtaking tones of red in the sky are not to be missed.
It is 120 metres long, the crystal clear water is shallow till quite far out, and the sea bed is soft and sandy. On the left, the tiny village of pastel coloured houses up on the rocks.
Although the beach isn’t very big, there is a fully equipped bathing establishment on it, and since it is easy to get to it is perfect for families with small children.
You can get there by car or by bus. Follow the road down to Biodola, then when you see the sign take the turning on the right.
