The Beach of San Giovanni
Since when the San Giovanni Circolo Nautico has had pontoons built here to enable the locals to moor and leave their boats, the area looks more like a landingplace rather than a beach.
There are very few currents here, and the port isn’t far away, so this means that swimming here isn’t always as pleasant as it should be.
Maybe it is better thought of as the perfect place to walk your dog and let him run about, or a starting place for a boat trip along the numerous, beautiful coves along the northern coast.
The beach is only about 5 km from Portoferraio, and is on the main road from Portoferraio to Port Azzurro; just turn left at the traffic lights.
