Description
Beach of Procchio
Thanks to its sandy beach, that is also one of the longest in Elba (1 km), the seaside town of Procchio, on the northern side of Elba, in the Commune of Marciana, is one of the most popular tourist resorts on the Island of Elba.
In actual fact, the very wide beach of Procchio is naturally divided into two parts: Procchio, on the western side, goes as far as Campo all’Aia on the east, and La Guardiola at the far end of the cove.
The beach can be described as a long, arch shaped stretch of golden and quarzitic sand that looks onto a crystal clear, turquoise sea that is even more breathtaking when the southern winds make it absolutely calm.
Even when the summer heat is at its peak there is always a sea breeze that keeps you cool. Since the water is shallow till quite far out, the beach is perfect for families with small children or for those who don’t consider themselves expert swimmers.
You can choose from a wide variety of facilities at the many bathing establishments: sun beds and sun umbrellas; pedalò, canoe and boat rental; restaurants; sailing, windsurf and diving schools; not forgetting that should you need anything else, the town is within walking distance.
In Procchio there is a car park at an hourly cost right behind the beach, and there is also a free one on the one way road that joins up with the main Procchio – Marina di Campo road.
A short, tree lined road that starts off at the town takes you right to the beach. Since Procchio is in the centre of the island, it is easy to get to both by car and by bus.
