Description
Beach of Pianotta
A tiny beach in Porto Azzurro consisting of small, light grey pebbles, that came to be when the loading wharf for the ferries at the far end of the sea front was being built.
The Beach of Pianotta however is outside the tourism port area, and the turquoise water is crystal clear on days when the north wind blows, making the sea bed even more beautiful.
Facing south, it may seem a somewhat small beach for the population of Porto Azzurro, bur there’s no denying that it is very handy both for residents and for tourists who want to go for a swim in a beach that is very near all the facilities the town has to offer.
The view from the beach stretches from that of the beautiful Gulf of Mola to that of the promontory of Naregno in the foreground and its magnificent Forte Focardo, built by the Spanish to strengthen their defence system of the bay.
The beach is easy to get to: just go along the sea front in Porto Azzurro to the far end.
