Description
The Beach of Morcone
It is the first of three large beaches on the south side of Monte Calamita, below Capoliveri.
Morcone, 250 metres long, faces south west and is well sheltered from the northern winds; at sunset, the colours of the outline of the promontory on the southern side of the Island are breathtaking.
The beach consists of sand mixed with pebbles, and the sea goes from pale blue to dark blue. There is every type of facility on the beach, so it is perfect for families with small children, with the added advantage that it is very easy to get to.
It is also perfect for teenagers, because they have the chance of practicing a wide variety of water sports.
Make sure you hire a boat from Morcone and head for the Costa dei Gabbiani, the coast where the beauty of the beaches is so breathtaking that you will think you are in an enchanted, magical world.
Follow the signs for Morcone – Innamorata from Capoliveri, then take the right turning about 2.2 km further along and you will get right to the beach. The Capoliveri Town Council runs a shuttle bus service during the summer months.
