Description
The Beach of Marina di Campo
This is the longest beach on the Island – 1,4 km – and consists of beautiful, golden coloured granite sand. The antique Pisan-Medicean watch tower stands proud on top of the rocks at the old part of the town. Half way along the beach there is a small pine wood at the back.
It is in the Gulf bearing the same name, in the centre of the southern part of the island, and is exposed only to the southern winds. The view of the Island of Montecristo on the horizon is breathtaking.
On the beach there are various bathing establishments , several restaurants, and every type of facility, but if you prefer, there are also various areas that are free.
The sea bed is sandy, and the water is shallow till quite far out, so it is perfect for families with small children.
Marina di Campo is one of the best known and most popular beaches because the town and the many hotels therein are right behind it. A cycling lane runs behind the pine wood, making it even easier to get to any part of the beach.
You can get to the beach on foot from the town centre, by bus or by car.
