Description
Beach of Forno – Portoferraio
This is the smallest beach in the Gulf of Biodola (Forno, Scaglieri and Biodola)
A strip of golden sand, 130 metres long, separates the sea from the tiny village, where the pastel coloured houses on the beach are well suited to the surrounding environment.
Forno is a well balanced harmony of colours: pink, beige, aquamarine, green, blue, all on a small, very quiet beach where the water is shallow till quite far out, and where many different varieties of fish have made their homes.
It faces westwards and is very sheltered, and from here the view of Monte Capanne and the coastline of Marciana Marina is unbelievable, above all at sunset when it becomes almost magical.
Please note however that there is very little parking space, so we suggest you go there either on a scooter, or on a pedalò from one of the nearby beaches.
If you take the path from this beach and follow the coast, you can go on a very pleasant excursion to Punta peninsula on the right, under the pine trees, as far as Viticcio.
Go down the road in the direction of Biodola, then 1.5 km farther down take the turn off on your right and keep going for about 1 km, until you get to a small square. From here you have to continue on foot for about 200 metres.
