Description
Beach of Fetovaia
The perfect place if you want a holiday near the beach: thanks to the white, fine granite sand, the sea bed, the sheltered position, and the crystal clear water that goes from sapphire to turquoise, this beach is one of the most popular on the island, especially in peak season.
If you stop just for a moment at the side of the road before you actually get to the beach in Marina di Campo, in the heart of the Costa del Sole (Sun Coast) on the most southern side of the Island of Elba, you can’t help noticing the beauty of the surrounding nature. A unique panorama, almost Caribbean, lies before you, whether you arrive at dawn or at sunset, when the sky goes from delicate pink to blazing red.
The beach is sheltered by an 800 metre long peninsula, rich in lush, Mediterranean bush with the typical broom and holm oaks. The water is always warm, and only the scirocco winds make it dull and not as calm.
It is 200 metres long, and some parts are free while there are bathing establishments on the others. The crystal clear water is shallow till quite far out, so it is perfect for families with small children.
There is a small, public car park nearby, as well as parking spaces at the side of the road that goes right to the beach, and there is also another one at the far end of the beach.
Boats are not allowed in the bay of Fetovaia, and there is a line of buoys 300 metres from the beach, so the entire area is at the complete disposal of holidaymakers. If you go past the small landing wharf at the end of the pine wood, on the left hand side of the beach, you will see the smooth granite slabs that are perfect if you want to sunbathe or dive into the deep blue sea.
The beach is 10 km. from Marina di Campo. Once you get to the town, turn left and follow the road down for about 500 metres until you get to the beach. You can also get there by ATL bus from Marina di Campo for Pomomte.
