Description
Beach Lido di Capoliveri
Thanks to its absolute and unique beauty, as well as being very easy to get to, Lido is considered the very best beach in all of Capoliveri, and is so popular that many hotels have been built near it.
It is 400 metres long and consists of fine sand, and the water is shallow till quite far out, so it is very popular both with teenagers and families with small children. Being south facing means that it is warmer than any of the beaches on the other sides of Elba.
There are numerous bathing establishments, and the few parts that are free are in the middle and on the left side. A row of rocks on the left side of the beach separates it from a smaller, quieter one, known as Calanchiole, while on the right an underground walkway leads to some artillery batteries dating back to World War II.
A north west wind makes the beach perfect for windsurfing, a very popular sport at this beach.
On clear days you can even see the Island of Montecristo on the horizon.
Two short, clearly signposted roads lead to the beach from the main road from Portoferraio to Porto Azzurro, and during the summer months there is also a public, shuttle bus service run by the Capoliveri Town Council.
