Description
Sansone Beach – Portoferraio
The moment you set eyes on Sansone, you will forget the time it has taken you and the effort you have put in, just to get there: a 15 minute walk along a winding track that starts off at the main road will get you right to the beach.
This beach is yet another among those considered the most beautiful on the Island of Elba. White cliffs all around, that plunge right down into the sea, crystal clear water, that goes from dark blue to light blue, from turquoise to green, in short truly breathtaking.
Since it is one of the famous so called “white beaches” in the area of Portoferraio, it is a must…a narrow stretch of brilliant-white, felsites pebbles that almost blind you. On days when a scirocco wind is blowing, the water is even clearer.
It is 300 metres long, and a landslide – perfect if you like diving – has divided it into two, and separated it from its “little sister” Sorgente. If you like going out on a canoe, or if you are a snorkelling fan, the large rock stack on the left is just what you’re looking for.
Perfect for nature lovers who want peace and quiet.
There is a small bathing establishment where you can hire sun umbrellas and sun beds, and there is also a small bar. You will find a restaurant in Sorgente, the beach right next to it.
Take the road from Portoferraio to Enfola, and you will see the sign 3,5 kilometres farther along; park your car at the side of the road or the or pay parking then walk for about 350 metres, going through a tiny village, and you will get to Sorgente. Keep walking until you see the path for Sansone.
