Description
Beach of Marciana Marina
Besides Fenicia, below the Medicean Tower at the far end of the sea front, there are another two beaches, one consisting of pebbles and the other consisting of sand. Since all three face north, they never get too hot and are never very busy, so are perfect if you don’t want to take your car and but want all the facilities, available not only on the beaches but also provided by the shops.
The pebble beach is about 100 metres long and is on your right, opposite the park, just as you enter the town. The small bathing establishment here, called Il Moletto, offers sun bed, sun umbrella, canoe and pedalò rental, while the beach on the left is perfect for children if they want to play or dive into the water.
Don’t forget that in the picturesque area known as Cotone, at the far right of the sea front, there are also smooth, flat rocks that are perfect if you want to relax and sunbathe.
As the sun sets, the houses in Cotone slowly turn a reddish colour, and this is a panorama that is well worth seeing.
The other beach, half way along the sea front, is about 80 metres long and has been formed by the sand brought in by the currents. A line of rocks separates it from the port area, and the water is always crystal clear, more so when the scirocco wind is blowing. Since there are numerous facilities on the beach, like sunbed and sun umbrella rental, as well as a rubber dinghy rental, it is very popular among families with small children, also because it is right in front of the town.
The car park on the sea front has an hourly cost, but there are free car parks at the back of the town only 300 metres away.
